Zoloft and Me
By Dean Beaty 9/27/09
Hezekiah 4:12 "If thou takest not thy medicine strange things
might happen." (DBV)

When I run out of my Zoloft and I’m prone to be a grouch.
No longer I’m content to lie quiet on the couch.
Little things can set me off and make me like a bear.
And often I am stormy to the one whose life I share.

It really is amazing what a little pill can do.
Just let me do without it and I might snap at you.
It’s called anti-depressant but that’s not what I see.
It helps depress my problems so folks can live with me.

With it I’m much calmer to deal with daily care.
Without it I might roar just like a sore-tooth bear.
I never saw my wife work with such vigor,
To get the pharmacy to give me a few more.

Well, all is better now my zoloft’s at the store.
Now my wife can come back from the house next door.
She really is a saint to deal with such a lout.
But I better watch my step or she will kick me out.

Hezekiah 4:12 No such book or verse Dean sense of humor

The Lord’s Day
By Rev. Dean Beaty 9/26/09
Hebrews 10:25 “Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together,
as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the
more, as ye see the day approaching.” (KJV)

The Lord’s Day is approaching; the day for Christian rest.
Will you join in worship and have your heart be blest?
So many other interests vie for our leisure time.
To pursue them in the week is not a mortal crime.

But let me illustrate it in away you can critique.
How strong would be your body if neglected week to week?
Just one day out of seven to give unto the Lord.
To lift your heart towards heaven that your spirit be restored.

The things that beckon us to pursue them on God’s Day;
If given to the Lord the Father will repay.
Deep down in our heart we know which way is best.
We know what God desires and which one He will bless.

The Father put us first when redemption was His goal.
He gave the best He had in redeeming our lost soul.
Is it too much to ask to give God one in seven,
To worship Christ the Lord and lift our voice to heaven?

You Are Not Forgotten
By Rev. Dean Beaty 10/5/09
II Corinthians 4:17 “For our light affliction, which is but for a moment,
worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory;” (KJV)
I Peter 1:7 “That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of
gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise
and honor and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ:” (KJV)

Do we need reminding that God has not forgot?
Especially when our life is tied up in a knot.
God knows our every step and numbers all our hair.
He sees the little sparrow when it falls out of the air.

The problem is just this; we don't see beyond today.
And so we ask like Paul, “Please take this thorn away.”
We're not as quick to learn for Paul just asked it thrice.
We'd be much better off if we'd heed his wise advice.

A thorn from God has purpose to bring us nearer Him.
Don't see it as a thorn but as a brilliant gem.
Then with the Father's grace to bring us through the trial.
We find that in God's plan the course was all worthwhile.

The Lord has not forgotten nor turned His back on you.
Trust fully in His wisdom that He will see you through.
His crown was made of thorns. Our thorns become a crown.
A jewel studded diadem for our future wedding gown.

What is The Purpose of Christ in Your Life?
Bt Rev. Dean Beaty 9/20/09
Colossians 1:18 “And he is the head of the body, the church:
who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things
he might have the preeminence.” (KJV

What is the purpose of Christ in your life?
Is it to bring peace between you and your wife,
Or maybe to help with financial concerns?
Or to rise in ones work; for this your heart yearns?

There must be a greater purpose than these.
Our walk with the Savior and His will to please.
That we bring great glory and honor to Him.
That He has preeminence while our will grows dim.

Now that I’m Christ’s my goals aren’t the same.
Now my great purpose is to honor His name.
He’s to be foremost as my Lord and my King.
All that I am to my Savior I bring.

One’s walk with Jesus is different from most.
We are His servants and not the head host.
You can’t be His servant and follow the crowd.
But, “Well done my son,” you’ll hear clear and loud.

Trusting God
By Rev. Dean Beaty 10/7/09
Genesis 18:25 “Shall not the Judge of all the earth do right?”(KJV)

When the answer does not come in the way you think it should.
Does your faith grow old and cold, you give up on doing good?
Our time is not God's time and our ways are not His ways.
Let the waiting grow your faith. You will find it always pays.

God's ear has not gone deaf nor His hand a little weak.
It's time to trust Him more and His perfect will to seek.
His eyes have not grown dim that He doesn't see your plight.
The judge of all the earth will always do what's right.

Are you about to quit and give up your heart's desire?
If God put the burden there, keep the faith and do not tire.
He will answer in His time and the way He knows is right.
He has not forgotten you and you're not out of His sight.

To see things as God sees would give us peace and rest.
Then we'd trust more in His love to always do what's best.
Sometimes the road is rough and often it's up hill.
Do not tell God what to do but humbly seek His will.

The Only Sacrifice
By Rev. Dean Beaty 9/25/09
Hebrews 9:26 “For then must he often have suffered since
the foundation of the world: but now once in the end of the world
hath he appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself.” (KJV)

Abraham and Isaac, more than father and son.
This is how the nation of Israel begun.
But it wasn’t always smooth, no one would dare suggest.
For God gave father Abraham a mighty big request.

“Take thy young son Isaac and offer him to me.”
And Abraham obeyed without a single plea.
“Father, where’s the Lamb?” As Isaac’s hands were tied.
Abraham merely answered, “My son, God will provide

For sure God did provide a fitting sacrifice.
Jesus Christ Himself would pay a bloody price.
Two-thousand years passed on till God sent forth His Son.
As Christ died upon the cross our victory was won.

Again God had provided the perfect sacrifice.
Christ was given once. No need to be done twice.
He paid for all our sins. No more now need be done.
Have you trusted Him by faith; this gift of God’s own Son?

The Beam In My Eye
By Rev. Dean Beaty 8/30/09
Luke 6:41-42 “And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye,
but perceivest not the beam that is in thine own eye? Either how canst thou say
to thy brother, Brother, let me pull out the mote that is in thine eye, when thou
thyself beholdest not the beam that is in thine own eye? Thou hypocrite, cast out
first the beam out of thine own eye, and then shalt thou see clearly to pull out the
mote that is in thy brother's eye.” (KJV)

I’m not sure I understand why other’s faults I see,
Before I see my own as worse and take them Lord to Thee.
Help me Lord to see the beam that’s lodged within my eye,
Before I criticize someone and my neighbor’s mote be cry.

The problems in my own life Lord, I know so very well.
Perhaps that’s why I see them clear and on their faults I dwell.
That’s not a good excuse to gripe and moan or criticize.
And forever look for motes that are in others eyes.

Teach me Lord to show Thy love that they may see Thy grace.
And the thoughts that criticize, within my heart erase.
Help me Lord to use the mirror of Thy own Holy Word.
And not a magnifying glass for that act is absurd.

There is a special peace that comes from God within your soul,
When you’re walking close to Him, not making motes your goal.
Instead take them in prayer to God and let Him work them out.
Remember this; He’s in control and has a lot more clout.

Tailor Made Temptation
By Rev Dean Beaty 9/28/09
James 1:13-15 “Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God:
for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man: But every
man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own (tailor made) lust, and enticed. Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when
it is finished, bringeth forth death.”(KJV)

Did you ever have a suit made especially for you?
We say it’s, “tailor made,” for it fits you through and through.
The devil is a tailor when it comes to fitting sin.
He tailors our temptations to our lack of discipline.

Do not forget that Satan is wiser than us all.
Just think again of Eden and witness there man’s fall.
He watches what we read or see, or the places that we go.
Then he tailors our temptation to bring a fatal blow.

Our God is a tailor too; He’s prepared for us a suit.
It is a suit of armor and there is no substitute.
If we’re to win the battle against Satan, our chief foe,
We must put each piece in place to protect where e’re we go.

In Hebrews it speaks plainly about sins that beset us.*
Where we easily fall prey and we hardly make a fuss.
“Tailor made” temptations from the destroyer himself.
Take many from the battle and put them on the shelf.

Examine your heart closely. Find the unguarded door,
Through which the foe will enter to make his fatal score.
But stand fast in Christ Jesus. Keep your banner there unfurled.
“Greater is He within you than he that’s in the world.”

*Hebrews 12:1 “Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,” (KJV)

Songs in the Night
By Rev. Dean Beaty 9/27/09
Psalm 77:6 “I call to remembrance my song in the night: I commune
with mine own heart: and my spirit made diligent search.” (KJV)

Now that I am getting old with much more time to spare.
I read again the songs I sang and find new meaning there.
I let the words pass through my mind but this time very slow.
And now I find just what it was the author came to know.

In the past I worked to learn the rhythm and the rhyme.
But to know the author’s heart, I did not take the time.
Now I sing them in my mind while quietly at rest.
I see anew the author’s heart and understand his quest.

Many hymns were born of grief, not meant to entertain.
But to show our Father’s care when life is full of pain.
Born of tragedy and loss that time could not erase.
They were meant to show God’s love while in His warm embrace.

The author’s soul will not be seen while singing them aloud.
Nor will the meaning come to you while gathered in a crowd.
They’re truly seen and understood with no one else around.
In the quiet of your heart where there is not a sound.

Removing Dross From Gold
By Rev. Dean Beaty 8/31/09
Job 23:10 “He knoweth the way that I take: when he hath tried me,
I shall come forth as gold.” (KJV)

Often from the trials we face, we ask God to remove.
But look at them from God’s viewpoint. They’re only to improve.
In trials, the thing to ask of God is: “Lord is this from Thee.”
If in the end God has in mind removing impurity.

It’s very clear we do not see our lives as God doth see.
The purpose that God has in mind may not appear to me.
We must trust His loving hand; that He knows what is best.
And put our faith in God’s wisdom and trust Him for the rest.

If I could choose my will and way, my road would be down hill.
With a warm breeze at my back, the way both smooth and still.
But this is not the way He works to mold a child of God.
He uses a refining fire, though we may think that’s odd.

The furnace must be heated up to draw away the dross.
If in the fire we do not stay the end will be our loss.
Job had trials we’ll never face with faith both strong and bold.
He confesses the plan of God. “I shall come forth as Gold.”

“Lord; will this thing I face today bring glory to Thy name?
Then all I ask is strength from Thee, Thy glory to proclaim.
I’m thankful Lord you keep in mind that I am merely clay.
And so I’ll place my hand in Thine and trust Thee all the way.”

Love Demonstrated
By Rev. Dean Beaty 10/2/09
John 13:34-35 “A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one
another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another. By this shall all
men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.” (KJV)
John 15:13 “Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down
his life for his friends.” (KJV)

What’s the best thing I can do, my love to demonstrate?
It’s more than just to do my best to keep my heart from hate.
To demonstrate my love for all fulfills my Lord’s commands.
Read all ten and you will see that love each one demands.

Jesus said, “A new commandment give I unto you.”
Love each other as I love you and My will ye will do.
Don’t be as the Pharisee who judged men by their class.
Each man is equal before God. Not gold while others brass.

Christ gave His all to you and me when He left heaven above.
The Law of Christ demands we love each other with His love.
He gave His life for those whose hate would nail Him to a tree.
This is how we are to love; as Christ loved you and me.

His love is not quite like our love that changes with the wind.
His love is always full to us and it will never end.
Even though He sees our life and knows our wicked heart.
Christ loves us still and changes not nor ever will depart.

Is this the way we give our love? Men’s wrongs do we conceal?
Or do we spread their faults around, their guilty sins reveal?
Our love will cover many sins if genuine and true.*
‘Tis what Christ Jesus did for me and what He’ll do for you.

I Peter 4:8 “And above all things have fervent charity among yourselves:
for charity shall cover the multitude of sins.” (KJV)

Imagining Heaven
By Rev. Dean Beaty 9/18/09
I Corinthians 2:9 “Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard,
neither have entered into the heart of man, the things
which God hath prepared for them that love him.” (KJV)

Can you imagine heaven and eternal life with God,
After men have planted you beneath the earthly sod?
Do you have assurance that heaven’s true for you;
That no power from earth or hell can e’er this truth undo?

Have you read God’s promises? Have you this message heard?
This assurance that God gives you as spoken in His Word.
John ten verse twenty-seven and on through twenty-nine,*
There’s no greater promise. Trust it and make it thine.

“Him that cometh unto me, I’ll in no wise cast out.” (John 6:37)
For this truth praise the Lord and with hallelujah shot.
Call upon Christ’s saving name and trust His Holy Word.
These are the greatest promises that men have ever heard.

Judgment day draws nearer, when all kneel at Jesus feet.
Are you prepared, my friend, the Savior now to meet?
The way to God is narrow and few there be thereon.**
Are you one of these few upon whom heaven will dawn?

* John 10:27-29 “My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:
And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man
pluck them out of my hand. My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all;
and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand.” (KJV)

** Matthew 7:13-14 “Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate,
and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which
go in thereat: Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth
unto life, and few there be that find it.” (KJV)

I’m Thankful, Are You?
By Rev. Dean Beaty 9/14/09
I Thessalonians 5:18 “In every thing give thanks: for this is the will
of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.” (KJV)

I’m thankful for forgiveness and that sins are washed away.
I’m thankful for God’s mercy that is new to me each day.
I’m thankful for God’s Spirit who lives within my heart.
I’m thankful for the promises that He will not depart.

I’m thankful that I have a home that God’s prepared for me.
I’m thankful most for Jesus Christ who died on Calvary.
I’m thankful I’m a child of God and my Father is the King.
I’m thankful for God’s blessings and the gifts that I can bring.

I’m thankful for the blood of Christ which cleansed my heart of sin.
I’m thankful for the brand new start when I was born again.
I’m thankful for the Word of God to teach me how to live.
I’m thankful for the grace of God whereby He will forgive.

I’ve a hope beyond this life to live eternally.
Do you know my loving Lord and serve Him faithfully?
What gives you a thankful heart? Before whom do you bow?
Will the things you’re thankful for last longer than for now?
